Nike Air Maxim 1+ Black/Sport Red-Baltic Blue Piet Parra

Charged with updating a classic Nike design, 1987’s Air Max 1, the Nike Sportswear Footwear Design Team dialed up technological innovations and re-mastered the performance and aesthetic of the original style to create the Nike Air Maxim 1+ Parra.

Nike took the original Air Max 1 design brief and ran it through a present-day filter, says Nike Sportswear Design Director Jesse Leyva. They tried to solve the very same problems Tinker Hatfield did with the technology of that time, using the technologies and Nike sporting innovations of today and tomorrow.

The design team focused on lightweight stability and cushioning. The result is a staggering 66% weight reduction from the original, with the Air Maxim coming in at a mere 10.1 ounces. This dramatic weight reduction can be attributed to several key features:

-Introduction of the innovative Acespan Mesh, a lightweight material developed for the 2008 Nike LunaRacer.

-Flywire Technology, drastically reducing the weight while creating an upper that moves with the foot and is stronger than ever.

-Deployment of a three-piece injected Phylon midsole, optimizing cushioning and support.

-Use of lightweight screen-printed Swoosh design trademark and eyelet details.

This Nike Air Maxim 1+ “Black/Sport Red-Baltic Blue” designed by Piet Parra has a classic shape made out of black leather and the flywire technology. The mudguard comes in fresh black suede and inside black mesh lining. Contrast stitching in red and light blue. Timeless colorway for great combinations!

Available now in the Nike Air Max Section.

The Nike Air Max 95 “Piet Parra”

is available now again in the Nike Air Max Section. The Nike Air Max 95 was the first of its kind when it was released in 1995. Nike revolutionized running shoes when it released the Air Max 1 in 1987 being the first shoe to have visible Air Max cushioning. The Nike Air Max 95 was the first running shoe in history to have forefoot and heel Air Max cushioning. The Nike Air Max 95 was a huge hit when it was released and was also the first Nike shoe to have an Air Max heel which was compressed to different pressures. The air pressure ranges from a low 5PSI in the back of the heel to 25PSI directly underneith the heel to provide optimal cushioning. Not only did the Air Max units provide second to none cushioning, but it provided great heel support.

This Nike Air Max 95 comes in Premium materials in a White/Black-Blue Chill colorway. Features white mesh toe box, light blue, red, pink and black fabric, the typical Nike Air patch and a black air unit with a black outsole. Designed by Piet Parra himself! Check that out!
